I love to eat simple breakfasts and my ideal morning meal is 2 slices of toast and eggs with a cup of coffee. In my opinion, breakfast without eggs seems incomplete and gives a feeling that something significant is missing from the table. But the problem occurs when we eat the same meal daily, the half-fried egg with two slices of toast and a cup of coffee.
I was trying to make a poached egg a few days ago because the half-fried eggs seemed part of the routine. Instead of using any other appliance, I used an air fryer and the results made me stunt. In the beginning, I was not expecting a delicious deal but after completing the cooking process, I ended up making perfectly cooked poached eggs in an air fryer.
Required Ingredients to Cook Poached Eggs in an Air Fryer
When it comes to cooking poached eggs, the majority of people haste to make eggs instead of focusing on the ingredients they use. They are unfamiliar with the fact that randomly increasing or decreasing the amount of an ingredient can affect the taste and shape of the poached eggs. To prevent committing such mistakes, you should use all ingredients with the same amount I have mentioned below.

Poached Eggs in Air Fryer
Equipment
- Air Fryer
- Food brush
- Rubber spatula
- Ramekins
- Plate
Ingredients
- 2 Large eggs
- 6 tbsp Hot water
- Oil Spray
- Desired amount of salt
- Desired amount of pepper
Instructions
- Most of the trainees in my institute initiate cooking something by mixing ingredients or placing eggs onto the air fryer tray. But the first thing we all need to focus on while making something in an air fryer is to preheat it for 2 to 5 minutes to ensure evenly cooking. In this way, the eggs will be more yummy and properly cooked so turn the air fryer on and leave it for 5 minutes at 350 degrees F.
- Our air fryer is getting ready for the eggs and instead of waiting for 5 minutes, we can do other tasks so place the ramekins on the table. If you are cooking 2 eggs, you may require 3 to 4 ramekins because sometimes ramekins get damaged. The purpose of using ramekins is to prevent eggs from sticking.
- Apply a thin layer of oil on the ramekins by using a food brush or an oil spritzer. Our air fryer is preheating and the ramekins are ready, so take a bowl of water and heat it in the microwave oven for 2 minutes at high temperature before the fryer reaches the limit. Use a spoon to add hot water to the ramekins and pour 3 to 4 tablespoons of hot water.
- The purpose of using hot water is to steam the eggs which is a significant part of cooking poached eggs. Crack an egg onto the ramekin and make sure that its yolk remains intact. When you have filled all the ramekins, place them into the basket of an air fryer.
- Cook eggs for 5 minutes until you find that they are evenly cooked. People usually fill the tray with eggs but in this way, some of the eggs will remain uncooked. Place 2 to 3 ramekins at the same time and check from time to time to see if they are evenly cooked.
- Here you should note that the duration required for cooking an egg depends upon the type of air fryer you use and its temperature. So, if you find that the eggs require more time then cook for a further 2 minutes and then take the basket out of the air fryer.
- Removing ramekin is one of the most difficult parts of the cooking procedure. Our eggs are ready and now we can serve but carefully remove the ramekin and then place each egg on the plate. In case you are unable to take the eggs out of the ramekin then run a spatula around the ramekin slightly and take the egg out of it.
- Place eggs on the plate and then add the salt. Some people like to add salt during the cooking process while others sprinkle a small amount of salt when serving so it is a subjective choice. You can also sprinkle a small amount of black pepper and then serve poached eggs.
Nutrition Report
The reason why people like to have the same breakfast daily is because eggs and toast with a cup of coffee provide an abundance of nutrients. In case, we do not consume an adequate amount of nutrients, we may feel weakness, fatigue, headache, and brain fog. To keep things simple, I have calculated the nutritional value and then made a report so if the amount of nutrients aligns with your need then advance forward.

Can I Add Vinegar to Poached Eggs?
When it comes to adding something new like vinegar, people often find such decisions complicated. In my opinion, it is a personal preference and can help make the egg more delicious but I do not add vinegar to keep things simple for my followers. Additionally, it increases the cost of cooking poached eggs, that’s why I use a few ingredients.
Can I Make Poached Eggs Without Using Hot Water?
There are some recipes to make poached water without hot water but I do not prefer this method because hot water makes the upper layer thicker and properly steams an egg in an air fryer. On the other hand, if we do not use hot water, it can cook poached eggs but the food’s shape will be changed.
What Temperature is Good to Cook Poached Eggs?
There are various points of view when it comes to temperature but I like cooking poached eggs over high flame because it saves time and we can cook it quicker before the egg sticks to the tray. I advise all my pupils to cook poached eggs at 350 degrees F.
Final Thoughts
Cooking poached eggs is not a challenging task but it is a delicate job in which one has to use suitable utensils in order to keep the yolk intact. There are various ways to make poached eggs and I prefer cooking it in an air fryer instead of using a frying pan or microwave oven. Anyhow, I have explained everything related to the poached egg recipe along with the required ingredients and utensils.
