Uncover the pack of cooked chickpeas and add them to a bowl. Gather all the seasonings including garlic powder, turmeric, cumin, cayenne, black pepper, and chat masala into the bowl. Cut a lemon in half and squeeze its juice into the chickpea bowl.
The first mixture is ready but we cannot place it into the air fryer until we add rice flour and oil. Here you should know that if you want to make chickpeas crispy then add rice flour; otherwise, you fry them in an air fryer without rice flour. So, pour rice flour and then avocado oil and mix all the ingredients until you find that the seasonings have coated the chickpeas.
You can use tongs or a spoon to mix the ingredients in the bowl. When you are done with the mixing part, turn the air fryer on and preheat it. Preheating is a crucial part of the recipe that ensures even cooking so leave the air fryer for 2 to 3 minutes at 375 degrees F.
Our mixture and air fryer both are ready so let’s place the chickpeas into the air fryer. Take its basket out and transfer chickpeas into it then close the air fryer and cook for 10 minutes. Spread chickpeas into the basket to make sure even cooking and check from time to time if they are properly roasting.
While the chickpeas are roasting inside the air fryer, take a bowl and set it near the air fryer. Check the chickpeas every 4 minutes, use tongs to toss them inside the basket, and then close the air fryer. It will not take more than 12 minutes, and now transfer the roasted chickpeas to the bowl and sprinkle salt with black pepper.
If you are using fresh chickpeas, it requires 10 minutes maximum to get roasted. However, if you think that they need time then do not roast more than 2 minutes and check if they are changing color to brown. When you find that they are ready, transfer them into a bowl and serve.
