My friend was tired of routine meals and bought an air fryer a few weeks ago but had no idea how to use this machine because, for a long time, she has been using a deep frying pan. I advised her to make some chickpeas in a new air fryer as they are simple to cook and do not require extra effort as well as one can check whether the air fryer is efficiently working by cooking something like peas.
If you are also tired of your daily routine meals and do not want to eat those snacks again then I can help you make chickpeas using an air fryer. You do not need to worry about the duration because it will not take more than 10 minutes as well as it is a budget-friendly recipe and one can make it for under 10 bucks. Let’s test your air fryer, so get an apron, and take the machine out from the kitchen carcass.
Do Chickpeas Stay Crispy?
When we are working on a homemade snack the only thought that comes to mind, again and again, is about the crispness of chickpeas. If you ask my point of view, I do not like to eat non-crispy chickpeas as they taste like something weird. Due to fear of ruining the chickpea recipe, the majority of people use an oven instead of an air fryer.
They are unfamiliar with the fact that cooking chickpeas in an air fryer does not negatively affect the crispiness. If we use an air fryer instead of the oven, it can increase the crispiness and make chickpeas more scrumptious. Therefore, I advise all my pupils to use an air fryer fearlessly, it will make your meal more delicious and provide a next-level culinary experience.

Chickpeas in Air Fryer
Equipment
- Air Fryer
- Tongs
- Bowl
- Plate
- Mixing Bowl
Ingredients
- 1 tbsp Avocado oilÂ
- Desired amount Salt and pepper
- 1 tbsp Rice flour
- 3 cups ChickpeasÂ
- ½ tsp Garlic powder
- ½ tsp Chaat masalaÂ
- ½ tsp Ground cumin Â
- 1 tsp CayenneÂ
- ½ tsp TurmericÂ
- ½ tsp Ground black pepperÂ
- 1 Lemon
Instructions
- Uncover the pack of cooked chickpeas and add them to a bowl. Gather all the seasonings including garlic powder, turmeric, cumin, cayenne, black pepper, and chat masala into the bowl. Cut a lemon in half and squeeze its juice into the chickpea bowl.
- The first mixture is ready but we cannot place it into the air fryer until we add rice flour and oil. Here you should know that if you want to make chickpeas crispy then add rice flour; otherwise, you fry them in an air fryer without rice flour. So, pour rice flour and then avocado oil and mix all the ingredients until you find that the seasonings have coated the chickpeas.
- You can use tongs or a spoon to mix the ingredients in the bowl. When you are done with the mixing part, turn the air fryer on and preheat it. Preheating is a crucial part of the recipe that ensures even cooking so leave the air fryer for 2 to 3 minutes at 375 degrees F.
- Our mixture and air fryer both are ready so let’s place the chickpeas into the air fryer. Take its basket out and transfer chickpeas into it then close the air fryer and cook for 10 minutes. Spread chickpeas into the basket to make sure even cooking and check from time to time if they are properly roasting.
- While the chickpeas are roasting inside the air fryer, take a bowl and set it near the air fryer. Check the chickpeas every 4 minutes, use tongs to toss them inside the basket, and then close the air fryer. It will not take more than 12 minutes, and now transfer the roasted chickpeas to the bowl and sprinkle salt with black pepper.
- If you are using fresh chickpeas, it requires 10 minutes maximum to get roasted. However, if you think that they need time then do not roast more than 2 minutes and check if they are changing color to brown. When you find that they are ready, transfer them into a bowl and serve.

How Long to Cook Chickpeas in an Air Fryer at 200 Degrees F?
I often say that we should not haste while roasting or frying something in an air fryer because it is a machine used to reduce the amount of oil, increase crispiness, and fry chickpeas over medium temperature. In my experience, it does not take more than 10 to 12 minutes if I roast chickpeas at 375 degrees F. However, if you roast at 200 degrees F then my estimation states it will take 20 to 25 minutes.
Final Thoughts
Whether you are testing a new air fryer or learning to cook, making chickpeas in an air fryer will not take more than 10 to 12 minutes as well and its recipe does not require a list of ingredients. People frequently ask what they should cook if they want to try a new snack and I always end my conversation by recommending roasted chickpeas. The reason I do not use an oven and prefer an air fryer is that it is an efficient machine that evenly roasts and increases the charms of crispness.
Additionally, it is safe to preserve nutrients in a meal and requires less effort compared to an oven or a pan. Anyhow, I have explained how we can cook chickpeas with the help of an air fryer and enlisted the required ingredients with utensils. I also provided a nutrition report for the people who are concerned about the calories, fat, protein, and carbohydrates in the roasted chickpeas.
