Onion Rings In Air Fryer
Equipment
- Air Fryer
- Parchment paper
Ingredients
- 1 to 14 Packaged frozen onion rings
- Non-stick olive oil cooking spray
- Seasoning/ dip of your choice
Instructions
- First, preheat the air fryer to 360 degrees Fahrenheit for 3 minutes.
- Now, layer half of the frozen onion rings bag into the basket in a single layer. You need to make sure they are not layered on top of each other, or you will be left with uneven onion rings.
- Lightly spray the onion rings with cooking oil for extra crispiness.
- Next, cook the onion rings in the air fryer for 8 to 10 minutes at 400 degrees Fahrenheit. Open the basket and flip the onion rings with silicone-tipped tongs, halfway through the time. Continue cooking them until you get the desired crispiness.
- Remove them from the basket and go for another batch of onion rings in the air fryer.
- Once done, serve them with your favorite dipping sauce. Enjoy!
Notes
- Do not stack onion rings in the air fryer basket. It can result in inconsistent taste and uneven texture, which may not be appealing in the end.
- Please note that not all air fryers are the same. Hence, you may need to adjust the cooking time and temperature depending on your specific model. What I would suggest is that you go in multiple batches and it can give you an idea about what might work best for your air fryer.
- Always spray non-stick cooking oil on the onion rings, as it will give you consistent texture and even taste. It will also help you with easy cleaning.
- Adding a parchment paper will also help you with quick cleaning afterward. It usually catches the drip and juices from the bottom of the air fryer basket, leaving you with minimal work.
Nutritional Value of Air Fryer Onion Rings
There are not many calories in these air fryer onions, as it is a quick snack to be enjoyed in between meals. A typical serving of onion rings cooked in the air fryer consists of 2 calories, 0.04g protein, 0.3g carbs, and 0.003g fats.
What Dip to Serve Onion Rings with?
There are many dips out there for snacks and most of them work perfectly with the air fryer onion rings. Here are some of my favorite dips to pair with these onion rings.
- Buttermilk honey mustard dressing.
- Cajun seasoning.
- Ranch dressing (it will take time to get used to).
- BBQ sauce.
- The usual ketchup or hot and sour sauce. You can also add hot sauce, chili flakes powder, and kosher salt to the regular ketchup for a personalized dip.
How to Season Your Onion Rings?
You can season the onion rings however you like. I usually like to sprinkle a little bit of salt, ground black pepper, and red chili flakes on frozen onion rings before putting them in the air fryer basket. Some people also like to add Cajun seasoning, hot chili paste, sweet and sour sauce, etc; so it all comes down to your taste preferences.
Storing Leftovers
Though air fryer frozen onion rings are best served fresh, they can also be stored in the refrigerator in an airtight container for up to two days. However, please note that this fried food can get soft when it is cold. Whether refrigerated or frozen, you must reheat these onion rings properly using the correct temperature and technique.
How Do I Reheat the Frozen Onion Rings?
Reheating the frozen onion rings in the air fryer is extremely important, as no one would like to eat soggy onion rings. But, fear not, as I have cracked the code. All you need to do is preheat the air fryer to 350 degrees Fahrenheit and pop them in the appliance to cook for 8 to 10 minutes and there you have it, perfectly crispy onion rings reheated.
Try it Already!
