Air fryer puff pastry is a quick, easy, and one of the most delicious desserts for brunches and hi-tea parties. You can serve them with different toppings each time to enjoy a variety of flavors. If this is your first time making puff pastry in the air fryer, here is my take on this classic dessert.

Puff Pastry in Air Fryer
Equipment
- An air fryer
- Parchment paper (preferably with holes). You can substitute it with an air fryer basket silicone liner.
- Cooking spray.
- Pastry brush
- Silicone-tipped tongs
Ingredients
- 1 sheet of puff pastry You can buy it from any convenience store
- 3 tbsp milk You can substitute it with 1 egg
- Powdered sugar
- Honey It is optional, though highly recommended
Instructions
- Start the recipe by putting the pastry sheet on a flat surface. Let it come to room temperature and thaw it according to the directions mentioned in the packet. Once it is suitable to work with, cut it into six rectangles.
- Now, take a small bowl and add milk to it (or beat the egg in it). Brush it on one side of the puff pastry.
- The next step is placing the puff pastry in the air fryer basket. Make sure you spread the six pieces from a considerable distance from each other in a single layer. Do not stack them over each other; it is okay if you have to go through multiple batches.
- Cook them for around 6 to 8 minutes at 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Once the time is over, flip them using silicone-tipped tongs and cook them for another 3 minutes.
- Remove them from the air fryer. Dust powdered sugar and honey over the pastries and enjoy them.
Notes
- You do not necessarily have to cook an entire sheet of puff pastry. You can do the same with leftovers if you have any. Sometimes, I only cook 2 to 3 puff pastries whenever I am craving this, and it is completely okay.
- Air fryers have different temperature efficiency. Hence, you may need to adjust the cooking time and temperature depending on your specific air fryer model. You just need to get them golden brown but not burned.
Nutritional Value of Air Fryer Puff Pastry
Puff pastries are nothing but butter, flour, salt, and water mixed and rolled in a laminated dough, called a puff sheet. Hence, there is not much nutrition to find. A serving of puff pastry consists of 229 calories, 19g carbs, 3g protein, 16g fat, 105 mg sodium, and 36 mg potassium.
What to Serve with these Air-Fried Puff Pastries?
I usually consume puff pastries on their own with a cup of tea or coffee, but you can always pair them with other things like brown sugar, whipped flavored butter (preferably strawberry), or cinnamon cream. In addition, you can also use them in desserts like air fryer puff pastry tarts, jam turnovers, and pumpkin pinwheels.
Other Recipe Ideas
Here are some other popular recipe ideas for these air-fried puff pastries you might like.
- If you are a fan of savory food, fill your puff pastries with a mixture of feta cheese, garlic, and sauteed spinach. Air fry them and it is a great appetizer on the brunch menu.
- Craving something sweet? Fill the puff pastries with sweet apple slices tossed in powdered sugar and cinnamon. Once they are air-fried, drizzle honey or caramel sauce and serve with the ice cream of your choice.
- Or, try something cheesy. Roll a mixture of grated parmesan, ham, and sauteed mushrooms in the puff pastry and air fry them. You have a perfect snack ready to be enjoyed in between meals.
FAQs
What Temperature Should I Set for Cooking Puff Pastry?
I usually cook my puff pastry at 350 degrees Fahrenheit or 160 degrees Celsius. That said, I have many friends who cook it at a completely different temperature, around 400 degrees Fahrenheit or 200 degrees Celsius. In the end, it comes down to your specific air fryer model, which may require a high temperature for an even and crisp texture.
How Long Do I Have to Cook Puff Pastry in the Air Fryer?
The time for cooking the puff pastry varies depending on the size of the pastry and how thick it is. Generally, I cook it for 10 to 15 minutes, flip it, and cook for another minute or two, and the results are always crisp and even. You can always try different cooking times to check what works best for you, though keep an eye and be extra careful throughout the cooking time.
